The hope of the One Nation Run is to encourage and invite Canadians to meet the poor near to them in their own country so that every Canadian child can live glorious and free.
When the ONR began the ONR team had two goals to reduce child poverty in Canada. One goal was an awareness campaign. The goal of the ONR was to engage with 100,000 Canadians coast to coast. To date the ONR through media, speaking engagements and word of mouth shared the message of the run with over 90,000 Canadians. The ONR had over 120 media stories, were in over 200 homes, in over 40 schools and in over 50 churches. The ONR was delighted to meet so many Canadians, discuss the issues of child poverty and hear the work they are doing in their communities.
On a financial level the One Nation Run’s goal was to raise a toonie for every Canadian that heard team’s message. As of October 31 the team had raised $43,000. Although this figure is signficantly less than what the team’s goal is, the team continues to be diligent in raising funds and will do so until the end of 2011.
